I volunteered to teach crochet to my son's 2nd grade class and I wanted to provide all the necessary supplies so the students would be able to take them home and continue practicing outside of class. I had intended to go through my home stash of yarn, but given the diversity in the class I thought it would be better to have a wide range of colors for the students to choose from. This set was the PERFECT solution! The yarn is high enough quality that it's easy for the kids to work with but cheap enough that it won't break the bank. The colors are bright and vibrant and the kids really love being able to choose a few colors they love. The skeins are small, but just the right size for a small beginner project (we're doing bracelets). Unless you do complex amigurumi where you need a tiny amount of a lot of different colors, I don't see this being practical for everyday use, but for learning you really can't beat the deal.

I used this yarn to make crocheted stuffed animals. The yarn is very soft so the toy feels nice and isn’t rough like I was expecting from these tiny rolls , which is pretty important for a toy. I like that it came in a lot of colors, which is also really important if you want to make a doll that has a lot of features with different colors but don’t wanna buy a lot of yarn for just 1 project. One bundle of yarn is enough to make a ball a little larger than a baseball. For me, that was enough to make the head and upper chest and arms for a doll that is about the size of my hand. For those that are complaining that the bundles are small, they are photos of someone holding one in their hand in the product description. It is a little surprising, since I’ve never seen this size in craft stores, but it was on the description.

I am making a blanket with puff stitches and each one of the individual colors makes two ! Easy to work with yarn also comes with extra crochet hooks !

As a beginner, I had absolutely no idea about anything regarding crochet before starting. I have very baseline skills in knitting, but that's about it. I didn't really feel like jumping down the hullabaloo rabbit hole (yet!) of finding which hooks widths match which yarn, I just wanted to get started and start building skills. I was a bit scared at the sheer quantity of yarn because I was imagining much bigger skeins, but these skeins are TINY! They fit in the palm of your hand, but that makes them great for a beginner like me! Easy to store, easy to carry. There was a sticker on the back of the package that had links to the ebooks, which were great! There were 7 of them! I love them! I personally learn better from videos rather than books, but I love having them, they're a great bonus especially for the price. I think when I get better at basic skills I can start using them to make something other than a rectangle. Super excited to invest in some Bernat Blanket Yarn in a couple of months, hopefully, when I get good. But overall, my lizard brain is super satisfied with my starter kit! - My kit contained: 24 mini yarn balls, two 4.5 mm hooks, 2 thick needles (one of which has a blunt tip, the other has a sharp tip) a zipper bag that they arrived in, and a piece of paper inside promoting Miragoods.
