Absolutely love these. Superb flame effect. Nice and bright. Love the different modes too because you can vary how much light it gives off. We got these for our garage for Halloween season….we thought of other colors but we wanted kids to see the lights and know we are handing out candy. That’s why we went with the orange color. Can’t say enough good things about this Hudson brand. Five enthusiastic stars!

We get compliments from the neighbors about these flame bulbs in our garage lights. I love them, such a welcoming site when we pull up to our home. They add elegance and uniqueness to our exterior. The flexibility of different modes is helpful. The bulbs are long lasting as well. Plan to purchase colors for the different holidays. Very pleased.

We've used these flame bulbs for several years in our 2 front porch light fixtures and our son uses them in his 4 front fixtures (2 porch and 2 garage). They continue to perform exceedingly well after years of continual use. We leave our 2 on constantly and they turn theirs off each day and only use them at night. We seem to get a little longer life out of them but they still get many months while turning them on & off each day. Excellent bulbs and excellent company.

Appearance Hudson Lighting rates the bulbs at 200 lumens (equivalent to 13 watts incandescent) which is in line with my observations. They are great for mood lighting, but I would recommend something brighter for activities like reading. The bulbs give a pleasant and realistic flicker. If your light fixture has no or minimal frosting, the flickering is more pronounced like a wood flame. Heavier frosting mutes the flickers causing a more candle-like appearance. I installed my bulbs in a torch lamp with open top globes which also creates a pleasant flicker on the ceiling. I have attached a video showing three frosting levels on my lamp (bottom to top): just the globe frosting, the globe frosting plus one sheet of copy paper inside the globe, and the globe frosting plus two sheets of copy paper inside the globe. I feel safe doing this because the bulbs do not get hot. (I printed clipart on the copy paper for fun.) Safety In a 73-degree Fahrenheit room in the torch-style lamp, the hottest part of the bulb reached 117 degrees after 90 minutes. The bulb quickly cooled to 96 degrees when held for 15 seconds. I tried the same experiment with a completely enclosed globe with zero ventilation. After 90 minutes the hottest part of the bulb was 119 and cooled to 98 degrees after being held for 15 seconds. It takes about a 5-minute exposure to 120 degrees to receive a first-degree burn, so I doubt these bulbs could ever cause a burn. I used a non-contact infrared thermometer to measure all temperatures. Energy Efficiency and Cost LED bulbs generally have a Luminous Efficacy (Lumens/Watts) of 30-90. These bulbs are middle of the road at 67 (200 lumens/3 watts). Operating a bulb 24/7/365 would use 26.28 kWh/year costing $3.34/year at the current national average price of $0.127/kWh. Only Issue I ordered three boxes of two for six bulbs in total. I noticed two of the six bulbs took about a half second longer to come on. I only notice this if I am staring directly at the lamp when I turn it on. I emailed Hudson Lighting asking if they were defective. Tim at Hudson Lighting responded saying the slight delay in coming on was just a variance in manufacturing. Tim added Hudson Bay covered the bulbs for up to two years. I was quite pleased with the response, but it was nothing compared to the response time. I emailed at 7:23 PM EDT on Saturday and received a response in 3 hours and 7 minutes. I did not expect a weekend response, especially such a quick one, from a lighting company.

This lightbulb was used nearly EVERY night for the last NINE years and it finally died. I’m so impressed with the lifespan im buying another now. This brand is great!

I was concerned that at 200 lumens this might not be that bright, but it's perfect in our outdoor front porch light and brighter than I expected. You'll notice the other options in this type of bulb are also 200 lumens. The modes advertised are not modes you control. At first I thought there might be a button, but this is just a standard quality light that has a flame effect. It's also silent which would be good if used indoors.

Really awesome lightbulb. Realistic flicker that everyone will notice when they walk in the room, but it’s not distracting at all. Perfect.

I've been using these for a few years and have experienced nothing but success and satisfaction. The bulbs tend to last approx. two years before a few LEDs start to fade out but that's actually quite good for this type of bulb. They also hold their color extremely well. On our large, five lamp exterior light I run these bulbs and when I see one begin to fade or malfunction, I change them all and we're good for another two years. I've had them last longer, but two years is the average. We run our lights on a timer, approx seven hours a nice, seven days a week, all year long. So, it's safe to say they earn a living.

Realistic looking flame

They create a nice atmosphere at night. I put one in a metal desk lamp who's primary function seemed to be to suck the chill out of any room it is in. The flickering is calming. The lamp looks like it resents the bulb when it's off. The bulb fits fine and performs well in a standard lamp. I put this more down to the lamp's designer having some unresolved issues to work through. It has become a ritual after a stressful day to pour a glass of wine, curl up with a good book while the bulb casts a soft glow over the room. It's not enough light to read by - you'll want a book light or a Kindle. But it is just enough to help me escape into a good story - like a pillow fort for grown ups but without the cleanup.

It says Halloween bur I love the flame flicker it makes it look like the old days of gaslight it on my front door light and gives it a great ambience to the area.

They are kind of larger than they seem in the pics. But that is good when you want to see this replica flame candle. The light bounces around to 10 or more locations and from the bottom to top. The bulb does not heat up!

These look way better than other brands I've tried. These are the ones to buy.

Bought this not sure how it would work/ look. Works in either direction (up or down) and looks awesome. Would buy again 100%. Looks like a real flame.

Not very illuminating but it looks like a candle lit lantern! I put one on my back patio and front door entrance but my bush covers it... so it looks like a burning bush LOL (moses reference)

Each time you turn the light off, it's solid, fading, or flame. They're so cute though! Getting more next week!

Well, I am very happy with them. I bought a few boxes and i use them in different places of the house, even indoor. One of my client has true gaslight, just like they have in New Orleans and Savannah and the likes cities. his lights, although have a good flame, show the entrance but do not brighten the entrance as a regular lightbulb can. So, even though i would have like my entrance a bit brighter I must recognize that the glow is very realistic in the way it mimics a gas light. I'll compensate by adding sconces to add more light,. I've seen people slowing down their car to look at them. A friend of mine tried a different model/brand, and although the store picture looked the same we can both tell that this brand is far superior, and not even the most expensive of all. The ones I used inside the house on the mantle look fantastic due to the nature of the lamp and shade they are in. You judge for yourself.

I did quite a bit of research looking for realistic flame effect LED's. I purchased a few different manufactures lights and these were the best. I place them in my outdoor garage lights on special occasions. They really do look like a flame. I tested them in a small light in a bedroom. From the outside it looked like we had a fire in the room. I was a little worried someone might call the fire department! When used to replace my garage lights they were great for the flame effect, but didn't illuminate the area very well. If you are looking to light areas for security, these are not a great answer. They are very lightweight and easy to install. I have had them for a few years and they have not failed me yet.

This replaced my driveway pole lamp for use as a Christmas decoration. It is ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE in its operation!!!! Never have i seen any electric light bulb that looks like a burning flame!!! Not just a single flame, but the lamp looks like more than one flame! It's unbelievable to look at it and think it's an electric light bulb!!! I'm 66 yrs old and retired electrician. If you want to have other style flame bulbs, buy this brand. If one looks this good, I'd be confident that all their lights will be as fantastic. Trust me me, get this brand. Merry Christmas!!! PS..... on my star rating, there was a brightness star rating. I gave a 2 because, it's not made for brightness, but a candle light flame not to light up the place!

i have had my flame bulbs for many years and they never seem to disappoint. my bulbs usually last for years. and i have them on 24 hours a day.

I tried out a few different flame LED lights and this one has been the best so far. The tilt sensor is good for knowing orientation - worked perfectly for me. The flame effect is the most realistic looking yet. If you scrutinize it closely you can figure out the pattern is runs, but to the casual observer it does look relatively flame-like. Definitely better than the other flam bulbs I tried. I like how this one doesn't have "modes" like some other models do. You know that each time you turn it off/on it will do the flame effect. With the other models turning it off/on changes modes so every time your light turns on it'll change from flame to solid to pulse - annoying if all you want is the flame effect. The constructions feels solid enough. It's a recent purchase so I can't speak to longevity yet but I feel like I could trust it to last at least a year or more. Consider the size. These things are a little long. You should check dimensions before assuming it'll fit inside whatever you want to put it in. I wanted mine to automatically turn on, so I also bought daylight/photocell detector sockets to go with them. Note that doing this will further extend the height (largest dimension) of the total bulb assembly. Functionally this has been working great for me. Just make sure your assembly will fit the way you intend it to.

Halloween is a big event in our home. We decorate both inside and out. For the hallway I had a hard time finding the best lighting - every single LED or low-watt incandescent bulb was still way too bright. I had previously purchased a blue flame flickering bulb on Amazon and liked using that for the front door, so I thought maybe a regular flame-colored bulb would be perfect for the hallway and it was the best decision ever! These lights may also be used next year in our garage for the tiki bar, totally love this product and of all the colored flickering bulbs, this natural flame bulb is my favorite!
