Hudson Durable Goods - Professional Grade Chef Apron for Kitchen, BBQ & Grill

I'm a large fellow, and this apron fits perfectly, with plenty of room for someone much bigger than me to wear it comfortably. The material is soft and sturdy, with plenty of useful pockets. The straps and fittings are attached very sturdily and it feels and looks great, and protects my clothes from anything a bar or barbecue could dish out. For anythng short of blacksmithing or professional meat butchering, this apron is perfect. Highly recommended!

I was looking for a masculine cooking apron for my 15-year-old son for cooking/grilling, that my husband could also use. My husband is a 6’5” firefighter who wouldn’t want a feminine looking apron for either of them. Lol. I did a lot of research comparing the other aprons and this is perfect. It fit my son fine, he’s 5’8”, and it would fit his dad fine also. They both liked the looks of it, and my son said it was comfortable and fit well since it’s adjustable. He liked how it doesn’t require tying in the back, he snapped the clasp very easily on his own. The pictures and video make it look like there’s lint on the black fabric, but that doesn’t show up in person. It’s a very solid dark black color. The pictures and video are after washing it and it washed up just fine. I washed on cold and hung it to dry. Not sure how it would be for a chef because I don’t know what pockets they want or need, but it is perfect for home cooking and grilling. The towel hook on the side is a nice touch, something I didn’t see in all of the other products I researched. Highly recommend.

This is a wonderfully constructed apron. Nice strudy and easy to clean material plus great straps and fasteners. My favorite part is the back strap that is a clip and not a tie. I love being able to have it fit perfectly then just unclip and hang it up knowing I won't need to readjust it when I put it on again. This was a great value and one of the best purchases I have ever made on Amazon. Oh I love the color too! And all the pockets! You should buy one even if you already have an apron!

Easy to adjust this apron for a comfortable fit with its crossback straps. Good thick material that is good to prevent water and oil from just soaking through and ruining your shirt. Good pocket layout as well.

I bought this apron for myself after buying my husband a Dalstrong sous team 6 apron. That was a tough garment to follow, but this is surprisingly nice for the price! It's thick (but not too thick), has very nice stitching, lots of pocket space. The most important thing to me is that it's very adjustable. I look just as nice in this apron as my husband does in his 5x the price Dalstrong. It's perfect for line cooks/flat top cooks as it is not too hot, but still provides protection to your other clothing as well as a great kangaroo pouch for your chef knife sheath. It also has a pocket on the breast specifically for your pen or marker and one that is big enough for a smartphone. All in all, 10/10 at this price, I would recommend it to any woman (might be a little smaller for a large man).

This review is long overdue. The Hudson cotton kitchen apron is the only apron I ever use anymore. My experience with the product has been phenomenal. Between the pockets, cross-back comfort, snap-connect, and INCREDIBLE durability, I’ve found no better apron for kitchen pros. I have just retired my longest-owned Hudson apron after 5 years. Fraying and age had finally caught up with it after many years of amazing use. Since my first purchase, I have added 9 more to my rotation and expect most to last well into the future. The first few washes allow the apron ties to soften and therefore the connectors which may seem loose at first will tighten. Stains have never been an issue. Even though most of my aprons are black, I cannot see any obvious staining on the gray or denim blue models. I learned early on to always snap the connectors into place and pulling apron ties very tight before washing so as to avoid having to re-thread after a tumble in the washer or dryer. Hudson was great from a customer service perspective on that issue though: after losing a couple of connectors to a laundromat, they mailed new connectors free of charge as a thanks for being a loyal customer. And a loyal customer I will remain, as I consider their aprons a dependable and highly useful tool that I rely upon and use daily! Many people have asked where to purchase these aprons, as their quality and utility is apparent immediately to co-workers. I have gifted them to a special few and would recommend as a great present to anyone who has a kitchen worker in their life. Thanks to everyone at Hudson, I have found the aprons I will use every day for the rest of my career, and also at home. They have figured out the chef’s apron 100%. If we get lucky, perhaps they will re-examine the chef’s shoe wear choices in the near future?

HIGHLY recommend this apron. I cook 3 meals a day, 7 days a week for my family of 5. PLUS my youngest son is in college for culinary arts - he loves this apron as well ! And he’s PICKY :D The belting system cris crosses in the back and keeps the apron in place no matter WHAT you are doing in the kitchen! I’ve always struggled w/ tradtitional aprons - they are always shifting to one side. NOT THIS ONE! It’s comforable and neutral (I favor the gray option) and washes in cold water, low heat. I can carry my phone w/ me at all times, never have to hunt for it any more! Heck I could carry 4 or 5 or 6 phones ! Plus a pen or thermometer pocket! Just get it - you’ll love it !!~!

I've had many neck loop aprons and they would create neck pain, this design eliminates that. Yes, it's a little different to put on, but the back snap for the ties is a great idea. I also wanted something waterproof for my dishwashing after I do my cooking, so I just sprayed the apron with scothguard and another problem solved!

Love this apron so far! The buckle in the back is awesome, just set it once and snap it on or off easily. The "cross over the shoulders" straps are really comfortable. The fabric is thick and the pockets are nice and thought out. Stitching seems to be well done and feel like this will last a long time! Will be looking at the woodworking apron next!!

I have lots of aprons, and most of them do the job. But, I wanted all the features I especially like incorporated in one apron, and the Hudson fits. It has lots of pockets, including a breast pocket for cellphone or instant-read thermometer, as well as a slot for a pen/marker. It has a nifty adjustable waist strap with a secure snap fastener. It has a loop on the side for a towel (extremely useful). The shoulder straps cross in the back, providing an extra-secure fit. Overall, this is an ideal apron and I wish I had found it sooner.

I recent started a new kitchen job, and decided to try Hudson aprons as an alternative to the the provided cheapos. These aprons are amazing! Very comfortable, they wash up great, and I have purchased a number of options. Highly recommend!

OK, guys, fellow cooks and kitchen magicians, let's get this straight right now: This is NOT "an apron," it is a "MANPRON" and there is likely no good lady in your life who will want to borrow it! LOL, it's just way masculine designed, and looks, feels, behaves like the good stuff I buy from my favorite "man-stores" which begin with "C" and "D" for those in the know!!! I love this thing...robust material, unique design, all sorts of "hi-lo" pockets, etc., to put stuff in (even a side loop to hang something from)...and even has a slot pocket for a pen or pencil! Wow, THAT is thoughtful. I'd darn well wear this to the market, then straight to the kitchen for cooking...LOL. I'm a shorty "bear," 5'6" and 175#, but the straps and the way it fits is so flexible that I think it would fit anyone, and it STAYS in place because the straps from the front cross over the shoulder, then across the back (straps held in place by a very clever bit of leather "X-guide"), down to the waist and connect at the small of the back with a secure plastic BUCKLE with the adjustable straps to make sure it holds in place no matter how tight or loose you prefer...no need to "tie a knot"! You might even have to spend a minute or two to figure it out (I did) because I have never seen anything like it; VERY well thought out!!! It's a heavy denim type fabric, sewed strongly for durability. I got the grey color...nice and "business-like;" and no frivolous decorations, words, silly sayings, etc., on it. It ought to wash well, and soften a little (it's a bit like a new pair of jeans right now...) with proper care. A personal hint: do NOT use fabric softener on this as it reduces/eliminates the ability of the fabric to absorb liquid/s; bad for the cooking business! Guys, cooks...get one of these, and YAY-shoutout to the single Dad who makes these! My vote: 5 stars!

After using cheap aprons for the last few years, I decided to splurge a bit and get something nice. This apron is it! I can't speak for durability as I have not had it for long, but the material is quality and has held without any issue thus far from daily use. I like that the material is thick enough that I don't have to worry about grease, oil, or other things bleeding through. Being on the slender side, it took a few minutes to get everything adjusted as the straps are quite long to accommodate people of all sizes. Being used to aprons with neck loops and waist straps, it took some time getting it on and off but once I got everything zeroed in it was easy to put on and take off without issue. Pockets? Lots of them, plus a hand towel/tool loop. I especially like the phone/notebook pocket on the breast as I tend to lose track of my phone when I am cooking. If you are looking for a quality apron, look no further.

My husband wanted an apron for working in the garage for his various small projects, so I got him this one for Christmas. He really likes it, fits him well and easy to put on because once the straps are fitted, you don't have to move them or tie them each time. He just puts the straps over his head and snaps the waist into place. The material is nice and sturdy and the seams are sewn securely. He always carries a pen, and this particular color has the separated pen pocket up top so a pen doesn't fall over into the rest of the pocket, where a phone or paper pad would be. Very nice apron and a good deal on sale!

I've only had this apron for a week, but I love it already. The pockets are big. The towel loop is sturdy. Much quicker than tying and untying a standard apron. I work as a line cook and it holds up to daily use. The fabric feels sturdy. It cleans up rather easy on the fly. So far I'm very impressed and satisfied. Also, I love the way it hangs on my shoulders, not my neck. Update: I've had my two (2) aprons for a few months now and I'm about to order more. They are the best. A little note, shake crumbs and other stuff out of the pockets before washing. The wash well and stand up to any task. I regularly have to deal with hot oil and grease splashes, and these aprons not only don't scortch or melt, but nothing ever bleeds onto my uniform underneath. A very high quality product that I recommend very highly.

I haven’t had the apron long, but it has already established itself as my favorite. It is nice to have something that can be used for cooking/grilling and working around the house/yard. It is easy to clean and durable under stress. I’ll be ordering another one as a spare. That being said, there is one slight issue I’ve noticed. The adjustable piece in the back doesn’t have a way to lock it in place, so it can cause discomfort when it shifts. Might see if I can glue it in place to avoid that issue.

This is a fantastic apron. The material is soft and very nice to the touch but heavyweight and protects clothing nicely. Fits great with adjustable straps and clip in back for easy securing. Lots of pockets and a loop to hook tongs or a towel. Love the cross back straps that puts straps over your shoulders and not around the neck. In the past when grilling I had borrowed my wife’s aprons and alway thought of aprons as either thin and flimsy or hard course stiff material with that neck loop that is not to comfortable. This apron breaks all those apron stereotypes. Great apron for a grilling man. Plenty comfortable and roomy for a big guy as I am 6 ft 295 lbs. My only regret is I didn’t get one sooner.

I've only had a chance to use the apron a few times, but so far it seems pretty great! It looks nice and appears to be well made with plenty of pockets and loops for all of my grill/kitchen tools. Also, I'm 6' 4", so it's not always easy finding aprons that fit well, but the length on this one is pretty perfect. I also though the adjustable clip closure in the back was a really nice touch, too. I worked in restaurants for years and never really thought about how annoying it was to have to tie the apron behind my back every single time I put one on, but with this thing you just have to adjust it once and then it's a perfect fit every time with absolutely no effort at all. I am very happy with this purchase so far, and would definitely buy it again and/or recommend it to a friend.

This is my 7th Hudson apron just about have very color and really love the waxed canvas aprons. Working in a professional kitchen these aprons are fantastic with pockets for every tool you could possibly need therms, scissors, towels, moleskin ect. I also like that they have a variety of thickness/weight of aprons. It's nice to be able to change things up and I really like the ease of the waxed canvas because at the end of the night I can give it a quick scrub with a damp towel and it's good as new. I will continue to buy these aprons especially when you can find them on sale. They were $20 on prime day so I picked up 3 more. Only downside for Hudson is they last forever so after i get every color I'm probably not going to need any new ones for a few years.

This is the best apron I've ever worn. So comfortable barely even feel im wearing one. If I had any complaints I would say maybe it can be a little lighter. But I'm ready to buy a few more for back up

I never write reviews of Amazon purchases (I think this might be my very first) but this apron is the bees knees. I am a high school art teacher and my apron is my work uniform. Over the past 20 years I have had oodles of aprons for varying lengths of time. This apron is supreme. It is the apron to rule all other aprons. I have had this apron for a year now. I love the kangaroo pocket as I can have a clean pocket for my hands when the other pocket begins to accumulate clay tools. X-Actos and bits of plaster, I thought the straps were going to drive me nuts and get tangled and caught up in everything (like my ID lanyard), nope, never an issue. The fabric is really soft but damn durable; I usually clean my brushes on my apron, use it to dry my hands, pin things to it, stick tape onto it, wipe plaster and clay on it. And it cleans up like a breeze (I am not claiming that acrylic paint washes out because it doesn't, that's not paints job, paints job is to bind to material), I just chuck it in the wash (cold/cold), hang to dry and we are ready for action. This apron has saved my clothes because yes, I love teaching art and making art, however I do not need to look like a stereotype of an art teacher when I am in public and messy is unprofessional. I love this apron so much that: A) I wore it in my school yearbook photo and B) I am ordering one for home use. It is my little superhero teaching cape of awesomeness.

Update July 30, 2024: I’m on my third Hudson Durable Goods HDG805 Chef Apron, and I can’t get enough of them. These aprons are so good that I have one in my kitchen, one at the cabin, and another in my workshop. The comfort is fantastic, with cross-back straps that save your neck and make it much more comfortable. I love the quick-release buckle—it's so much easier than trying to tie it behind my back. The apron has more than enough pockets and a handy towel loop, making it perfect for cooking, grilling, and smoking. ----------------------------- These are so good, I own two. One for home and one for the cabin. This is the only apron for cooking, grilling, and smoking. Great job Hudson! ------------------------------ Update October 26, 2022: As I said in the original review these are so good I own two. Well, they are so good that I bought the Hudson Durable Goods - Deluxe Edition - Waxed Canvas Tool Apron too. I bought the waxed canvas apron to wear while sawing logs into lumber. You can read the full review of the waxed apron at that item, but suffice it to say there is no other aprons I will use to work in the shop, woodworking, sawing logs, grilling, cooking, smoking, and much more.

Why I waited to buy one for so long I’ll never know. They aren’t terribly expensive. First time I used it I was so happy. Every time I’d throw burgers on the grill I’d have to walk back in the house to wash my hands now I just wipe my hands on my apron. Not to mention it has pockets to help carry and shakers or whatnot. I love this apron.

I love this apron. I wore an apron at work for years - the kind that hangs on your neck and just hurts and weighs you down, even when there's next to nothing in the pockets. For years I wished for an apron like the Hudson one - with straps that go over the shoulders and behind the back instead of around my neck. Now I work from home, and the choice is mine. After a bit of research, I found this one. I thought it was a bit expensive at first, but as soon as I put it on I did a little happy dance. It is the best! I have been doing a lot of painting and I do most of the kitchen work, so I wear it at home literally all day, every day. It is comfortable and durable. So many pockets, too. It is not water resistant, but was not intended to be. It will keep small splashes off your shirt though, and if you dry your hands on it that's fine too. But don't expect it to save you from a big splash. It does seem to pick up a good amount of lint, as other reviewers have said, but it's easy to brush off if it bothers you. Overall, I highly recommend this apron. I am actually considering a second one so I don't have to go without when this one is in the wash.

Real quality. The ties are very long for me because I assume this was made for a man. However, it was able to clip in back and wrap the ties around then tie in front. burgundy color is very pretty. Feel like a real well made apron. I like the towel loop!

Last summer I purchased a Hudson Durable Goods Work Apron for my wood shop and other projects. I have been very impressed with the quality and I was excited to see this apron since it offers a similar design at half the weight which will work well on summer nights and in the kitchen. After using this apron for a couple weeks, this is what I have to say: Functional - There are plenty of pockets and I love the towel/spatula loop which is a nice addition since I am constantly searching for a towel when I am in the kitchen. The length is just right on my 5'10" frame and I would expect the adjustable straps to allow this apron to fit a variety of different sized people well. High Quality - The weight is perfect. Not too light, but not too heavy. I accidentally spilled some water on this apron and it diverted the spill and didn’t immediately soak through like my old lighter weight cotton aprons. The build quality is exceptional with double-stitching and the rivets all seem strong. I have no doubt that this apron will last a long time. Comfortable - I am hooked on the cross-back design. It is extremely comfortable on the neck/shoulders and this apron has some nice upgrades that differentiate it from the work apron. The buckle snaps are convenient and make adjusting the fit very easy and the patch that holds the straps makes getting this apron on a breeze. All that and my wife loves it too. If this apron can withstand the rigors of the post-apocalyptic wasteland, imagine what it could do in your kitchen. comfortable, durable, lots of pockets, an accoutrement strap and even a pouch... a POUCH! I can now play papa kangaroo to my green cheek conure who now insists upon diving in there and then poking her head out so she can properly supervise the salad making process. I'm giving this apron five stars because I cook--a lot. And in all those years, I have never, ever encountered an apron with so much thought put into it. There's even a pocket for a paper notepad. I use it for my phone and listen to music, but I safety pin the pocket closed because it is an open pocket and I don't want it to fall out if I have to lean over and grab something from far below. Other than that, it is really honestly the best apron I've ever purchased. The stitching is top notch too. So, my official recommendation is to buy this. Oh, one other thing... There's clips in the back that snap together to belt it to the waist, which I thought was pretty cool. Most aprons require a little skill in the backwards bow tying department so they even took into consideration people unfamiliar with such dexterous deviltry. That was nice. Edit: Bought this back in early 2017 and here it is on the cusp of 2020 and still going strong... I don’t want to set the world on fire... War never changes...

I enjoy cooking outside... a lot! But I also spend a tremendous amount of time in the kitchen doing prep work, using the stovetop, and using the oven when necessary. Otherwise, I'm outside tending to one of the smokers, bending over a cast iron pot sitting upon an open flame or just grilling on the BBQ. So I needed an apron that could do it all without getting in the way or becoming a potential fire hazard. My apron must be really breathable, remain close to my body regardless of how I'm bending, kneeling, or standing during a breezy day, and maintain its safe distance from an open flame. Finally, my apron must be easily removed in case of an emergency. This apron does that and so much more.... I've been using this apron for many weeks now. It features quick release buckles, easy adjustability, and plenty of pockets for whatever you need close at hand. A loop even accommodates a towel to wipe your hands. Anything missing? Well, I'd like to hang my heat-resistant leather or silicone gloves and even my Dew Rag from an open plastic ring (similar to a keychain ring) that hangs either from the waist strap or even better, from a reinforced patch sewn into the body fabric. In fact, add a ring to each side of the apron. Other than that, this apron is perfect for my wide-ranging needs. I'm so impressed with this apron, I bought another one as a gift for my son. This apron is not inexpensive, but it's definitely worth the asking price.

I've only been using this apron for 3 days now at work in a metal polishing facility. With what I do, there are no sharp pieces of metal or anything like that. It is mainly used to keep the compounds off of my clothes as much as possible. As of right now I can say that it is very comfortable wearing it for 10 hours a day and the clip in the back is fantastic! Easily adjustable for your size of mid section. I'm about 5' 11", and weight appropriately 165, and I have so much room to not only tighten it, but there is at least 1.5 feet of extra hanging on both sides to loosen it. Time will tell after washing a few times, but I did purchase a second apron so that I can swap them out so that I can wash the other one. So far, I am more than satisfied with this apron, and I love it!

I am not motivated to write this review beyond the fact at how well it functions to wear. I bought this to stop getting grease on my shirts when cooking with oil and washing dishes. I have no complaints as the design of the Circular part in the back slides well to adjust to any size body frame. It also does extremely well at keeping you from getting water/oil on your clothes. I don't really use the pockets but they seem great if you were grilling and needed free hands. Overall a great simplistic design that just works.

This apron is AMAZING. It changed my life. I'm no longer in debt. My credit score is now in the high 700s. It cured my IBS. My dad told me he was proud of me for the very first time. The denim is the denim straight out of the 80-90s. Cool, rough, durable. My wife couldn't stop telling me how cool and attractive I was and my kid was suddenly not embarrassed of me anymore. You could run this thing over with a semi and it would still be in impeccable condition. The materials were made straight from Chuck Norris pants. Even Sam Elliot said I was the coolest man from here to Southeast Asia. The straps make sense, the pockets are numerous, and the towel loop is a great add. It’s not hot while I wore it for hours against a hot griddle. I suggest you purchase.
