I bought this Gi because of the price and because I needed some extra ones. I currently have the American Top Team Gi (which is WAY more expensive). I've used this for a few Jiu Jitsu classes and so far it has worked well for me. No rips or tears. I'm interested to see how it holds up over time. I pretty much alternate between this Gi and the American top team one. I will update this review after a year or so. Yes, I do think it will last for at least one year. I go to class theee times a week. Several folks in my class are curious about this and bought this Gi as well after grappling with me. Comparison: Compared to the America Top Team Gi this one is lighter in weight. I do think the fabric is a bit more breathable because it is lighter. The material is a little bit thinner. You can tell the difference when you are grabbing at the collar. Sizing: I'm 5'8 and about 160 lbs. I bought the A2 blue. It fits me well. I've washed and dried it for 20 mins in the dryer, then hung it for line dry. No shrinkage with that method. I'm glad I bought this size, fits me well. Plus you can tighten the pants. It’s easy to move around and roll with this. Feels comparison to my expensive Gi. Color: Even after washing the blue color is vibrant. Overall: If you want an extra Gi, this is a good one to purchase! Very affordable and does the job. No complaints!
First, I'll start by saying I don't practice BJJ. My daughter does. But, because she wanted to practice more to catch up with her class and not get beat up as much when rolling, I bought mats to put down in the basement and I have been helping her practice after work every day. She's progressing well, but I wanted to work on her grips, different gi chokes, etc with her, so I needed a gi to do so. I looked around online and basically decided to get the cheapest one, since I only wanted to use it practicing with her, not competing myself or getting too rough in it. I basically expected something cheap that would fall apart fairly quick and need replacing... But by then, my daughter would understand the different grips and everything and I wouldn't need a gi anymore. Well.... This one came in, and it's honestly FAR better quality than I expected. It's light pearl weave is comfortable and feels very durable. The lapel is thick and comfortable. The pants are very light, breathable rip stop fabric and have a descent amount of string to tie them, so you're not messing with tying tiny little strings... My daughter loves practicing with me in a gi... It's more realistic for her... More like class or a competition, not just like she's wrestling some weird adult that attacks kids and tries to arm bar them. So, with this thing being such good quality for the money, I guess I'm going to be wearing a gi to practice with her for quite a while. Anyone that is just starting out and doesn't want to spend a lot of money, this gi will do what you need it to, and is just as nice as a bigger name brand gi, but without the insane price tag. Or, if you just roll a lot and need a spare gi so you don't ruin your competition gi... You can't go wrong with this one. Not a lot of patches or anything on it... It looks nice, feels nice, is comfortable, and isn't going to fall apart on you while you're rolling.
Dear fellow hoofed mammals, I recently had the opportunity to try out a ju jitsu gi, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. As a moose, I am no stranger to rough and tumble physical activity, and this gi held up to my expectations. First and foremost, the gi was made of a durable and sturdy material that held up well to my antlers and general moose roughhousing. The fit was comfortable and allowed me to move freely without feeling constricted or restricted in my movements. The design of the gi was also pleasing to the eye. I appreciated the simplicity of the design, which showcased the quality of the material and stitching. The lack of excessive adornments and flashy details also made the gi less distracting, allowing me to focus on my technique during training. One aspect that I particularly appreciated was the moisture-wicking technology used in the fabric. As a moose, I tend to sweat quite a bit during physical activity, and this gi kept me relatively dry and comfortable throughout my training sessions. Overall, I would highly recommend this ju jitsu gi to any fellow moose who are looking for a durable and comfortable gi that can withstand their rough and tumble lifestyle. Whether you're training for self-defense or simply looking for a comfortable and functional outfit for your physical activities, this gi is definitely worth considering.
This was my first true Jiu-Jitsu gi. I've done some striking arts and dabbled in grappling in the past. The last gi I bought was Jukado Ryoyo hybrid gi that is basically a Karate gi with a fat reinforced collar like a grappling gi. Fast forward to now when I am getting back into the MA game and joined a BJJ gym. I figured I would pick up a cheap JJ gi for now and think about a nicer one later. The Hawk had good reviews, and at half the cost of my last gi, was quite affordable. The quality is amazing for the price point. Fit and finish is very good and the quality of materials is far above my expectations. It's a little heavier than I am used to but I think that's par for the course being a straight up grappling gi. I'm about 5'9" and 180lbs. The fit is pretty spot on for me. The sleeves are out to my wrists and th pants are around my ankles without dragging the ground. The included belt was nice (since I needed a new belt for a new style and this one has the black patch for stripes). Over all this is a great entry level gi or for someone just looking for a quality gi at a lower price point.
Super durable when using it hasn’t ripped once very flexible
I purchased this 3 months ago when I started jiu jitsu. it felt a lot thinner and lighter than my tatami nova gi. I didn't think it was going to last too long. but after 3 months of 5 sessions a week and multiple washing and machine drying. it's still going strong. pros: light feel very comfortable fairs well in machine wash and dry is not prone to extreme shrinkage. I've machined dried it at least 2 times a week on normal dry high heat and have washed in hot water to get my white gi somewhat "white" again and it has not shrunk. Cons: the pants stain easily, and stains are hard to get out. but to be realistic, when you purchase white gi you can't expect it to stay white if you do more than 3 sessions each week. availability: this is definitely a con because I have wanted to purchase other colors because I love this gi so much, but have not been able to. Would like to see more black, blue, and green in smaller sizes. when those are available I will definitely be purchasing.
I purchased this as a Halloween outfit. I don't participate in any martial arts, so I can't speak to the functionality for it's intent, but it worked GREAT for what I needed it for!!!

Fits great and light weight

Great quality!!! My son had worn this repeatedly for jiu-jitsu class. It doesn't shrink and it's very durable!!
I bought this for my Bjj glasses and it fits me very well. I weight 170 i bought A3 fyi
good quality for non competition wear. did not shrink after several washings on cold and tumble dry. no tears.
BJJ uniforms can be really expensive. A guy I trained with recommended Hawk since they’re good uniforms at a fraction of the cost and he wasn’t wrong. It has the reinforced collars and is thick, but not overwhelmingly like I’m wearing a blanket like many other BJJ uniforms. Guidelines say that I should be using the A4 size uniform, but this A5 fits much better. I’m about 6’2 and around 285 lbs and this fits pretty decently.
I did the try before you buy, and as soon as I tried it on I LOVED it! It's light weight compared to my other giis, and it's great for hot summers. Was wearing this when I got my first stripe!
UPDATE: Use it 3 times a week for BJJ and wash it each time, 5 months later and it’s still going strong! No stitching coming out, no tears, highly recommend. Original: I wanted to buy a different gi because I hate branding on my clothes but I needed it shipped fast and this also came with a belt so saved me around $10. Light weight compared to the one I was borrowing, washed 3 times now and looks as it did new. Will update if anything changes. Honestly, I may buy this one again when the time comes despite the branding just because of how much I like it thus far but I don't have much experience with different gis. (Used for Jiu Jitsu training and sparring)
Almost as light as gameness

This is a great entry jiu jitsu gi. Mine came with a white belt as well. The gi is comfortable to the point I just wore the pants around the house after a training session. The price point is affordable so if you don’t end up liking the art it’s not going to hurt the bank. I’ve washed it already a few times and the color is holding up well. Hasn’t really shrank however was I drop weight I will attempt to dry to get a more fitted look. Haven’t seen any loose stitching. I live in an area that’s see double digits frequently and sweet a lot in this gi, it’s not light weight but not heavy either but it’s ok. If you need one I would order it.

1. I don't think any BJJ gi is going to be super lightweight, but I don't feel this is heavy. The sport istelf is going to get you sweaty, so I am not sure how breathable the material is. It has held up to 3 or 4 washings at this point (cold water, air dry with maybe 10 minutes in the dryer on low) and has held its shape, colour and size. The free belt is much appreciated as I am a newbie white belt and it has been fine after washing as well. For reference, I am 5 foot 2, 132lbs and got an A1. The pic is straight out of the package.
I love the gi top (or jacket). It fits me well, is lightweight, and seems plenty durable enough so far. I had previously purchased a sanabul gi and I never want to wear it anymore, because I like the Hawk jacket so much. The pants are baggy on me, but it's hard for me to find a good sizing - short legs and a belly that I'm still working on shrinking. As others have said, order one size up from what you might be used to. If you look at their sizing chart, though, you can see that the weight limits are a little different than other manufacturers (slightly less weight for an A5 in my other experience). Wash your jacket in cold water and let it air dry. Go ahead and wash the pants in any temperature and throw them in the dryer, since they may be a little baggy on you. Great customer service. They really worked with me to make me happy when I emailed them with my thoughts on the pants.
I’m not going to complain about the sizing bc all I have to go on is my old Tatame gi so maybe all companies don’t size the same, but this gi fits, just a little big, oh well. I love the feel of the gi and for the price I might just make this my go-to. I might go a size down next time just to see, but either way I’m a satisfied customer considering I got a good gi and a belt for half the price as my wife’s that didn’t come with a belt (haha).
I have four other gis and have been practicing BJJ since 2016. This is a great lightweight quality gi, unfortunately the sizing was off for me so I didn't end up keeping it. I am 6'0" and 195, I wear 34x32 pants and a 44 jacket - The A3 was so close to a perfect fit. The pants were a bit big which I thought was perfect because even no shrink gis shrink some. The A3 jacket was a perfect fit out of the box, but I suspect after washing (Even careful Cold wash, hang dry) it would shrink to an unacceptable fit. I think with my body size/type I am just between sizes. I am confident, however, that if you are within the sizing guide you will like this gi and it will last you a long time. What drew me to this gi in particular was the minimal branding. I hate the look of billboard grappling apparel.
The product in question fits flawlessly, providing a comfortable and secure fit. While the material used may not be of the highest quality available on the market, it has proven to be highly durable, withstanding numerous laundry sessions and rolls without significant wear and tear. Remarkably, the product has remained in excellent condition despite regular weekly usage for nearly a year in Jiu Jitsu classes.

This gi gets the job done! It's a great beginner gi to see if BJJ, judo or any other art that wears a Gi is for you or not. There are way more comfortable and nicer looking gis out there but they sell for 2 or 3 times as much as this one costs. I have no complaints rolling around in these Gis. I own the black one in the picture and a blue one
I'm surprised on the outstanding quality, value for the money and accurate size.
I waited about a month before I sat down to review this gi. Wanted to use it, wash it, dry it and over again. Now that I've done all that, I can definitely say this is a great deal of a gi! I don't buy expensive gi's in general. This one, though, for the money I paid, can't beat it! Didn't shrink, I wash after every use ( 3 times a week), then I dry in the dryer. I must have worn, washed and dried out about 15 times now and it's just as good as the first time. Btw, it came with a white belt, if you're beginning that might be a good perk, since the belts usually cost extra. Will follow up with another gi from them soon! If any help, I'm male, 147 lbs, 5'7". Size I bought - A2. Feels spacious and comfortable.
I've had this gi and rolled in it for months now. It feels good and light. Still holding up well.
I originally bought a GI in white, which had an unraveling string as the belt. Loved the quality, so i bought 2 more, with normal working strings. I brought this up to the company, and they sent me a brand new white gi at a very discounted price. This was well past the return period, yet they still worked with me to make sure I was happy. I very rarely review things on Amazon, but I'm a big fan of companies that do by right by their customers. I'm very happy with all four of my Gi's that I bought from this company. As a note, everyone in my gym has Ctrl Industry GI's, and I like those too, but these hold up just as good.
