Gear America makes two virtually identical versions of this ring, one made in the USA (USS Edition), and a second one made overseas (China). I chose the USS version for two reasons... 1) it's made in the USA, and 2) the product description states that Gear America has an "Industry leading Hassle-Free Lifetime Replacement Warranty" on all of their products. After having a couple of small issues with my first order of this product Gear America was quick to reach out and address, apologize for, and resolve the problem. The issue was cosmetic and had no impact on performance of the product. As for the product itself, It's a good size block of aluminum with good weight. Not too heavy, not too light. My scale says 1 pound 5 ounces. Regardless, it's a lot lighter than the snatch blocks I'm used to! It appears as though it would do its job as designed without any difficulty. The dimensions are appropriate for the type of work it's designed to do. The anodizing is uniform and nice, but only time will tell when it comes to the durability of the finish. The product has no sharp edges that could damage soft shackles or synthetic winch lines. If you're researching this type of ring take note, it is designed for synthetic winch lines and soft shackles only. Overall I am very satisfied with this snatch ring. It's a high quality product and I look forward to using it in the field and on the trail.

It's very solid and the color helps it stand out if you happen to set it in the mud, weeds or anywhere else on the trail.

This is my favorite over all other recovery ring. Good value for the money. Very low friction. The USS edition cost a little more and was a small wait compared to the imported version but they seem the same. If you want to save a couple bucks and receive one quick, buy the imported version. Using the USS version is a patriotic thing.

First time using soft shackles and the snatch ring the set up is lighter than the metal stuff. We used it a lot no mud just big rocks , using the ring saves on your winch you just usually need 50’ extra rope 3 short shackles and snatch ring . It’s more work than just straight winching to tree (with tree saver please) but easier on your equipment. Used for a SXS

The GearAmerica gold ring is very well thought out. It’s larger and easier to use than the cheaper ones. The design is nicer and easy to hold…even with wet gloves on. Check out the pictures and video…it’s way neat be than the cheap ones on Amazon.

Smooth anodized surface unlike the overland adventure brand I sent back. The center is larger than the outside edge which keeps the soft shackle from rubbing on the edges. Materials sourced and made in the USA are also a big plus.

You need this if you have a winch. It is safer then the heavy snatch block. And is lite.

Good, solid piece of recovery gear. Simple with no moving parts to break or get stuck. Well made to boot. Just wish it was manufactured here in the US.
