UPDATE after one year: I'd buy this again in a heartbeat. If you care about cocktails, glassware and serving the best possible drinks to your friends and family, get this. In my earlier review I mentioned bottled or filtered water; update - totally unnecessary. Tap water is perfectly fine. Our freezer is set to 5F degrees. I don't think there's anything magical about the water or its temperature. Assemble the mold, fill it to within a quarter or eighth of an inch of the top, carefully place it in your freezer, then leave it alone for 16 hours. Take it out, LET IT SIT ON THE COUNTER FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, then grasp the silicone molds with your thumbs and index fingers and use your other 6 fingers to push downward on the rigid insulated portion; it should come off fairly easily. Then separate the lower silicone mold from the upper mold. You don't have to be gentle here: the molds are durable. If your freezing period was correct, the lower mold should be a mixture of ice and water. I remove the ice from the bottom of the cube mold by tapping it with a wooden spoon (over the sink). Once it's all off, put the upper mold face down on the counter, and push down on it... the cubes should loosen and come out of the mold. Immediately put them in the freezer. There's a storage unit available. If my storage unit is full, I just leave the new cubes in the upper mold. We recently purchased some Art Deco old fashioned glasses from Amazon and they're beautiful, but a bit too small for these cubes. So I take a (sharp) serrated knife and carve them into rough looking roundish cubes that look more interesting than the plain cubes. See 2nd pic above. TL/DR: Buy this if you care about cocktails I’ve been using this for a week and a half, and it works really well. With the freezer set at 4°, it takes between 14 and 16 hours to make four beautiful, clear ice cubes. And guests really notice! Update: for best results, use filtered or bottled water. Fill to the fill line, let it sit for a while, then tap the housing to release any air bubbles lurking inside. With the freezer set at 5°, it takes about 16 hours to get fully formed cubes in the top mold and the proper icy/slushy mixture in the lower section. Do NOT use warm water to remove that icy mix from the underside of the top mold: you’ll damage the cubes and they’ll end up lopsided. I usually tap the partly formed “cubes” from the lower mold (which adhere to the top mold) with a wooden spoon to dislodge the extra ice. Then you can pop out your beautiful clear cubes. After sitting in the freezer a while (I put them in larger silicone molds I no longer use), I store them in a large ziplock bag. Still happy, still 5 stars. 2nd update: the only issue I’ve had is an occasional bubble or two in the cubes. This is what I’ve landed on as my approach: 1. Put the lower silicone mold in the insulated housing 2. Fill the lower mold with bottled or filtered water 3. Insert the upper mold into the lower mold 4. Fill upper mold to fill line 5. Carefully place in freezer set to ~5°F 6. DO NOT TOUCH, MOVE, JOSTLE THE MOLD for at least 14 hours 7. Remove from freezer after ~16 hours have passed, remove cubes 8. Cheers!

IDK what some of these people are talking about. I used unfiltered tap water, had no issues. They're not hard to take out, either. Mold has slid come out pretty easily. No need for hot water or anything. Clear spheres with some clear ice and a giant air bubble below the molds. All I did was follow the instructions and I've had perfect runs so far (on my 3rd batch). Very happy with it. Storage bag only holds 6 spheres, but that's a nitpicky thing to ding it on. You could probably just use a ziploc (or maybe double them) to store more spheres. I'll find out when my next batch is done, I guess. Excellent results, very happy with my purchase.

The perfect ice cube was the last piece of the puzzle to making my very best Old Fashioned. Before discovering this product, I conducted countless experiments trying all the suggestions on Google from boiling water to using distilled water and everything in between to no avail. I was about to give up when I stumbled across the True Cubes ice cube maker on Amazon. I figured I had nothing to lose so gave it a shot and couldn’t be more impressed with how well this product works. Alas! A perfectly square, BUBBLE FREE ice cube. Why is this important? Let me tell you. The right ice cube in a cocktail is as important as the the tires on a car. When ice has bubbles, it melts significantly faster and, not to mention, is visually unappealing. When ice melts slower, it allows for a broader range of the flavor profile to release translating into the last sip of your cocktail being as enjoyable as the first. The product itself is super easy to use and I’ll share a few tips I discovered along the way- After it’s fully assembled, I fill filtered water with a funnel while only pouring into one square of the upper chamber. This prevents any bubbles from sticking to the sides of the filling square. Based on your freezer temperature setting (mine is at 4°), you’ll want to pull the cube maker out of the freezer after about 27-30 hours. It’s easiest to pull the pieces apart when some of the water in the bottom chamber remains unfrozen. It still takes a little work to pull apart but the end result is worth the effort. In order to keep all things equal, I make the next batch only after the cube maker has warmed back to room temperature. Cheers!

First time using product. Came out flawlessly. A perfect clear cube. No frost, cracks or anything.. it had 4 small dimples on bottom that you don't even notice. It truly does last a very long time before melting. I poured a full 32 oz glass of room temp tea (74 deg) and set out on the counter with one cube in it. So far it's been 3 1/2 hrs and the cube is just a little bit smaller. I used filtered room temp water to fill the mold. (No boiling of water). I placed it inside freezer.( without changing any temp settings). 20 hrs later I took it out of freezer and set it on the counter for exactly 15 min untouched. After 15 min I removed the silicone housing effortlessly. I drained bottom chamber of ice water mix. And tilted top mold upside-down and cubes slid out onto my hand. I would definitely purchase this all over again. Kids ran off with other cubes. Lol I didn't get a pic I waited for second batch and kind of rushed it. I thought it was ready after 13 hrs. When I was removing the silicone chambers I noticed bubbles flowing into top chamber. So I put it back in the freezer for another 4 1/2 hrs. Second batch not as good (my fault). Note.... when ready to use the cubes set it out for a minute or two before submerging into liquid and it prevents them from shock cracking. It's funny, cuz both my neighbors just purchased these today.

This really works. If you take the time and effort you will have crystal clear large ice cubes that melt much slower than regular ice. I enjoy good bourbon and these cubes really add to the experience. If you follow the directions you will get great results. I use plain, cold tap water and freeze the water for 18 hours. It does take a little effort to get the mold separated but it is no big deal. In the one photo that orange slice is behind the cube, as you can see that cube is clear as glass. I also bought some silicone ice bags so I can keep about a dozen cubes on hand.

2.5" square cubes are perfect for a 12oz bourbon glass. No, the cubes do not ALWAYS come out crystal clear, however, if you use distilled or purified water, the top 4 cubes will come out clear...the bottom is a coin flip...but dont let that deter you if you are using this for home use. Let's face it, after you put the drink of choice in the glass, the ice cube doesn't matter after a sip or two. Cube stays in form throughout your drink and melts at a slow pace. Can use for two drinks if you wanted. Great find here!

I got this to replace a 6 piece ice tray I'd gotten as it took Godzilla to get the ice out. Actually hurt my fingers and wrist. This one however is AMAZING! Ice is clear, doesnt' leak and so so easy to remove the ice.

Beautiful crystal-clear cubes finally! Do follow the instructions and do not leave it more than the recommended time inthe freezer as it becomes a lot harder to remove the cubes, but you can still let it sit for a bit for the cubes to start melting and they mostly just pop out.

24 hrs in the freezer was more than enough. Lower "impure" cubes were 3/4 frozen. The top clear cubes were perfect. I'm on my 3rd patch. One cube got a crack line while adding cola. Problem? No, it is still great ice.

Fancy ice cubes are yesterday’s trend but this tray makes beautiful cubes with minimal effort and modest cost. I love pouring an old fashioned or a manhattan (on the rocks) over the ice cubes this tray makes. I highly recommend it.

Love it! The picture doesn’t do it justice. I have tried every trick and product to get clear cubes for my husband’s cocktails and this product is the one! Easy to use, 4 perfectly clear cubes (and 4 not so clear ones at the bottom) if you wanted to use them or discard them. Now we have a stock pile of clear cubes for craft cocktails at our disposal.

Cocktail fans need one of these. Pretty easy to use, although getting them out of mold when ready takes a little finesse. The quality and clarity of the large, square cube is exactly what you need for your evening Manhattan.

The square cube maker works perfectly. My first batch came out nearly flawless....a few tiny bubbles that you really have to stare at the cube to notice. Used room temp tap water and left in for about 19 hours. Ice had formed on the bottom of the form so I had to run under some hot water to clear it off. The cubes slid out very easily. Slight imperfection on the surface of the cube because I subsequently put it in a freezer bag and they froze together so I had to split them apart again. Can't wait to make some fun ice cubes for the holidays.

Standard for all my reviews: When reviewing products, I'm always objective and honest about the product or service. I review with information that I feel others would like to know about the product as I always assume what I'm writing will influence for or against the purchase. I try to go above and beyond surface characteristics and input into quality, value and application. Most importantly, I end the review with an answer as to whether I'd purchase the product again which I believe is the most critical question pertaining to the item. To manufacturers: Manufacturers: Want me to review your items, just let me know! I've been using a number of different ball and cube molds and tried everything from using different temps of water, distilled water, filtered water, etc. with no real good results. Always cloudy and sometimes cracking. After doing some research I had settled on the True Cubes product but never got around to purchasing it. Then, we visited friends and he had True Cubes and they looked great. He mentioned he gets the best results with hot water. After getting the product, I tried regular cold tap water and I've never had to change it up. They came out nearly perfect, most all the time are crystal clear and while they take about 18 hours to form up, that's fine for our usage. If I have multiple visitors coming over, I make the cubes in advance and keep them in a heavy duty baggy. It takes a little bit to figure out how to remove them easily but once you get the process down, it's easy enough. It's not a small unit so be sure you make space in your freezer so that it can be level while the cubes forms up. Personally, I'd prefer slightly smaller cubes but that is splitting hairs. While a bit larger, they still fit into a standard whiskey or rocks glass just fine for whiskey, scotch, old fashioned, etc. And there's just something about that crystal clear rock that elevates your, and your guests', drink experience. I would purchase this again and highly recommend it.

This actually works! 16 hours in my freezer and I had perfect clear cubes for cocktails! I’m sure people’s times may vary but I highly recommend this product. Are the cubes a little finicky to extract yea but just be patient and let them sit on the counter for 10 min and they come out easy. Do not force them out.

Round and crystal clear....follow the instructions....I use cool filtered water from the frig dispenser. It takes @ 24 hours in a chest freezer for the ice to form. I remove from the freezer, slide the inner liner out of the foam box, then set on the counter top to rest for 15 minutes before attempting to extract the ice. This process works best for me.

Timing is very important - you cannot just let it sit in the freezer beyond 22 hours or it is frozen solid and difficult to remove. Cubes are perfect

I’m not sure this ice cube maker has as many negative reviews as it does. This worked for me right out of the box using filtered water. Extracting the cubes from the mold is a little tricky if you let the entire thing freeze through but if you go with the recommendation of removing them within 18 hrs, you’ll be good. The bottom section becomes frozen solid so it makes it harder. If you want clear ice cubes that last longer in your drinks than regular cubes go with this product and use filtered water. -spring water might have too many minerals in it.
